Yesterday and today were filler days for me. Keeping the family busy in hopes that the time will pass quickly until the morning when my husband returns from Iraq.
Yesterday was church, then we went out to eat and went to see Speedracer at the movie theater with a family from church. Their little boy had a birthday, and my girls and their boys are good friends. The movie was long, and there was little left of the cute cartoon I used to watch as a kid. But, it was nice being out and about.
Then, in the evening we celebrated said boy’s bday with cake and fellowship. There is nothing like the company of friends to help you relax and enjoy yourself. Plus, cake helps too.
Today was cleaning day. I had to mop and vacuum, sweep the front steps, and sort through bins of toys. I also had to replace about every bulb in the house. Just about a week ago, 7 light bulbs burned out in the house, at around the same time. We had no kitchen lights, no hallway bathroom lights, my lamp in my bedroom burned out, the dining room hanging light. It was weird, and since our ceilings were so high I procrastinated. But, today I took the jump and now we have light again!!
We also went to the barracks and helped put the finishing touches on our single soldiers’ rooms for a nice welcome gift. Gift baskets full of goodies, decorations, and bottled water and soda nice and cold in their fridge. Also, found out that the plane will land a whole 20 minutes later than planned, making our schedule weird, because we either have to get up really early and go before they close the roads for PT, or wait until after and not get to see the plane land on the big screen TV. Still pondering that one.
Then, when I got home, I saw that my yarn had come from Smiley’s Yarns. I got the yarn I needed for my felted purse project, and a tweed-looking bag. I was excited, I started working right away. Needless to say, I need to finish other projects first, but that excitement of new yarn just got the better of me.
Tonight, I will relax with a Jan Karon book, “At Home In Mitford“. I read that series every couple of years or so. Then I will curl up, snooze, and be ready for my baby to come home in the morning!!! I just hope he calls me on one of his stop-overs!!!
