This is Ray’s Insect and Spider Lapbook, which started out as two (maybe three) separate studies in my mind, but we wound up combining the information into one lapbook.
It started as a fascination with the exoskeletons that cicadas had left on the trees at the lake where we stayed waiting for a house. Then, it was a live, newly emerged cicada. Next, two assassin bugs caught within hours of each other in our new neighborhood.
Then it just took off from there. Insectivores presentation at the library, insect book-bag checked out and brought home, books and more books.
In the insect bag were the movie and book of The Cricket in Times Square. This inspired another aspect of our book, a look at crickets and geography.
With all the information we had gathered, it was difficult to decide what to include in our lapbook. But, in the end, my daughter was pleased with her work.
